Thank you for visiting! I’m a Portrait artist in Calgary,  specialising in figurative subjects and portraiture. I’ve been drawing and painting since I could hold a pencil.

Portraiture is what I love the most. The beauty of a face is so much more than the physical distribution of it’s features, the intangible, exquisite qualities in a person’s expression is where their magic is, finding and distilling those qualities into a two dimensional piece of art is pure bliss for me.

I draw inspiration from a diverse range of artists. John Singer Sargent’s unceremonious and sumptuous portraits, William Turner’s tumultuous landscapes, David Hockney’s vibrant and audacious compositions, and the luminous mastery of light and drama displayed by the Baroque painters all have a profound influence on my artistic sensibilities, and leave me weak in the knees.

I work in the digital medium primarily, The digital medium is wonderful because it allows for comprehensive scaling, and printing strategies. However, I am always working on a canvas, and love opportunities to undertake portrait projects in the oil medium.
